Tuesday Rewind

Hey readers! Just thought I’d do a little “Tuesday Rewind” and show you what I’ve been doing the last week or so.

I re-opened my Etsy shop after a long sabbatical, and I’m glad I did it! Getting to work on little projects that have been swirling around my brain has really lifted my spirits. Here’s a few photos of some of my work that is still available in my shop: Purple.Desk.Designs

And I’m working on more listings for the end of this week!

Also, I was able to spend some personal time decorating my week in my Happy Planner:

So… there is a quick catch up! Have a happy Tuesday!

What I’ve been up to lately…

Not much actually.

A lot of sitting. A lot of reading. A lot of contemplating.

I’m not sure I’ve ever felt so “in-between” before … the hubs and I have been looking at houses, and baby Malloy numero dos is due in a short 4 months … and yet I feel stagnant! I’ve worked a few shifts at the hospital, organized a bit of the apartment… and been really REALLY lazy. It might be the first time in my life that I am not hard-pressed on working on some type of project or taking classes or making myself be busy.

Right now, I’m just trying to NOT be stressed out. I’m trying to dwell on things that give me joy – because I think stress has stolen my joy for a looooong time.

So – I thought I’d just share a few things I’ve done the past week. I’m slowly trying to rejuvenate my creative side.

Here is my first try at a DIY Happy Planner Cover. I just used some scrap paper I had laying around, and a few self-sealing laminated pages. It was fun! I think if I were to make these more often I’d invest in a laminator and a HappyPlanner hole punch because my hands were tired after trying to punch through the laminating pages – they are pretty thick. I am pleased with my first try.

Here’s just a snapshot of the inside front pages; just having some fun with my sharpie brush tips that I got for Christmas!

I also got to sit down and play with my weekly inserts. Someday when I have the iPad I so desperately have been coveting I might make my own inserts. I dream to own a sticker and planner studio! *sigh*

I really enjoy decorating my planner – I’m very encouraged by the planner community to keep it up even if it’s only for me! Here are some of my older posts. I’m enjoying seeing how my planner taste is developing.

One of those weeks…

Do you ever have one of those weeks where you’re still working on Monday’s task list and BOOM it’s Friday morning? That’s me today. It’s been a whirlwind and I’m not sure how I got here. I’m not GREAT at being flexible, but I don’t think I had a choice this week.

Between class, homework, lab, pick-up shifts, family time, groceries, meals, laundry, dishes, Etsy custom orders, and all the other stuff I do on a regular basis, I’ve spent a lot of time at the hospital with my dad who just had heart surgery. He’s doing great now, but it’s always emotionally difficult when someone you love is ill!

So, I guess really this is more of a reflection post than anything. My life is crazy sometimes, but I’m so thankful for everything and everyone in it. It would be easy for me to “whoa-as-me” about every little detail of stress right now, but I just wont do that to myself. I’m healthy and able, and it’s SWEATAH WEATHAH.

My poor planner has been quite neglected. I took a few minutes this morning to give it some love. I’m kind of just “planning as I go” for this week. Maybe next week will be more well-thought out. Just thought I’d share a little snippet. A little fall-inspired washi tape is all you need sometimes! Thank you Target dollar spot 🙂

Here’s also a few pictures of custom orders I’ve been taking. What do ya think?

Brain Drain Printable (Free!)

Sometimes, the days just aren’t long enough – or so they seem! Things are so busy right now. I’m often found lying face down on my bed because I’m overwhelmed with stuff to do and that’s apparently how I handle it. That and naps. Lots of naps. BUT NO MORE!

Despite all the planners and printables I’ve purchased and downloaded, nothing quite settles my brain unlike a chicken-scratch notebook-list of things that come to mind. If I can just “drain my brain” of all the chaos I can maybe get a hold of the day. It’s still always ugly, but at least it gets the job done. Because I’m a fan of esthetics, I decided it was high time to make my to-do list less ugly and more happy. Perhaps then, on days where I’m just unmotivated, I can look at my pretty little brain drain and get to crackin’ on priorities.

Brain Drain

So here it is the brain drain, my first try at a free printable! I’ve printed a week’s worth to try out and to see if I need to make some adjustments. I wanted to share it with you guys because maybe you too need a brain drain! I’m thinking I might make a “night brain drain” to help me wind down for sleep – and maybe it’ll make the morning brain drain a little easier. What do you think?

August Layout – Happy Planner

So I’ve been using my Happy Planner as my day-to-day planner for a few months now, and I have to say I’m pretty happy with it! It’s layout is similar to my ECLP, but what I like most is the disk style which allows me to pull out the pages and utilize all the room I’m given. I love the design of the ECLP, but the spiral binding just doesn’t work well enough for me.

Weddings, our anniversary, classes …August is busy already! I don’t know where the time has gone. I guess after being on vacation I just haven’t gotten back into my groove at home. The best way I know how to do that is to jump back into my planner!

It’s hard to plan when your table is covered with other crafts (I’m currently addicted to calligraphy) sooooo you do what you can and use a step stool. It’s fine right? Besides, it’s closer to the ground so my squirmy child can be by me AND have the basket of toys close.

Don’t mind my little piggies, I was strapped for space. I’m loving the stickers I got from Cricket Paper Co. on Etsy. They are a perfect summer/fall combination for the month of August!

Our 6 year  wedding anniversary is coming up soon – it makes me even more excited when I see it all dressed up on my calendar! We haven’t made any plans since we spent a lot on our last adventure – but maybe we can still make it out somewhere!  We’ve never been into doing traditional gifts because usually we like to get out and do something together – but maybe this year we could play on it.
